PADDOCK MAINTENANCE

Paddock maintenance is an essential part of looking after your horses and a well planned paddock maintenance program will ensure your paddocks and horses remain healthy and pest free.

We offer a range paddock maintenance services to customers across the South West. From small paddocks to livery yards, small holdings to large country estates and everything in between.

Paddock Weed Control

A weed is any plant that is growing where you don't want it to and whilst a variety of plants can be healthy in your pasture and the wildlife, some plants are poisonous and overlly intrustive.

Spraying of paddocks is mainly to control docks, nettles, thistles, buttercup and clover. Too many weeds on your paddock prevents the natural growth of the grass, looks unsightly and more importantly can be harmful to your horses and ponies.

Undesirable Plants In Your Horses Paddock

The following plants can become too intrusive unless controlled:- Docks, Nettles, Thistles and Buttercups.

Poisonous To Horses

More importantly there are a few plants that should be controlled and these include:- Ragwort, Foxglove.

We have specialist spraying equipment for our quad bike and also carry out Knapsack work for smaller areas or those requiring precision spraying or eradication work.

If you have multiple paddocks all requiring work this can be split to allow adequate lay off times to ensure that your horses/animals are safe and that the work done has the best opportunity to take effect.

Paddock Conditioning & Fertilising

We have the machinery and expertise for all your land management needs.

All work is undertaken on a quad bike so ideal for your smaller paddocks with limited access where it is difficult for tractors. Knapsack work is also undertaken for smaller areas or those requiring precision spraying or eradication work. If you have multiple paddocks all requiring work this can be split to allow adequate lay off time, (If spinning using calcified seaweed there is no layoff requirement so you horse and be turned out immediately) to ensure that your horses/animals are safe and that the work done has the best opportunity to take effect.

Is an organic treatment that conditions your paddock and brings the grass on slightly different to fertilising. Unlike other treatments there is no need to remove your horses from newly treated paddocks Calcified Seawed brings the grass on on a slow release basis and over a few seasons will control the growth of buttercup. Calcified Seaweed is very good for promoting a tight root system which will help reduce poaching of the land.
